Now Booking for Psychotherapy Sessions and Intensives (multiple sessions per week)
From the moment we begin our first session, you will know what we are going to do together is DIFFERENT, and that we’re going to do real work. I’m not going to sit and make small talk with you because we both know that’s not what you’re there for. I’m not going to lead the conversation because your unconscious needs to be in the driver’s seat, and I’m not going to be one of those therapists who rescues you from an awkward silence because that is often the moment just before people share the most important stuff.
I will sit with you as you find your way. Yet, I promise I will not either be one of those therapists who just listens and does not speak. I will highlight and punctuate your words, themes, and patterns. I will push you to connect emotionally even when it’s scary. We will work on your vulnerabilities and defenses against sharing them, as well as your anxieties, and I will always give you honest feedback. You will soon notice feelings of relief and increased regulation from the judgment-free space I offer you and from beginning to speak your mind.
Who is a Good Candidate?
This journey may be terrifying at times, or perhaps for some of you it will be exciting, but it will be your chance to go deep inside yourself and to find your inner truth. I will be with you by your side the whole time.
Clients who don’t tend to work well with my approach are:
- Looking for a quick fix
- Not really sure they want to do this
- Want their therapist to tell them what to do
- Prefer to stay on the surface with things
The clients who work well with me are those who either really know what they want out of therapy and are willing to go very deep to get it, and those who have “been there, done that” and are tired of living with anxiety, being good all the time, or holding themselves back.
And this might just be you if:
- You’re willing to be challenged (because the defenses you’ve used until now are definitely not going to work with me).
- You are willing and committed to show up and talk even those times when you’re mad at me or don’t think what we’re doing is working (because as you get closer to change, your resistances will create those feelings).
- You are ready to really let go of that “thing” you’ve been holding onto with all your might for your whole life, whether it’s a fantasy, an illusion, a secret about yourself, or a coping method that’s helped you survive (but that you no longer really need).
- You’re ready to let your walls down once and for all and to let in my support, caring, gentleness, and guidance as you struggle through deep and intense conflicts in your inner world.
I’m an award-winning, Columbia University trained therapist with 24 years of experience, a published author, and a college professor. I offer virtual and in-person sessions in NY and NJ.
If you’re ready to really go deep, to end your search, to feel at peace, and to commit fully to the ride, please reach out to me TODAY! Since the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, I am working with my clients via telehealth therapy sessions in addition to in-person sessions, depending on your preference.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
