Coaching: How to set limits with a toxic partner
If you feel you’re living with an emotional bully, I’m here to tell you there’s hope.
Setting limits in a clear, confident tone of voice is often all it takes to get your partner to come around.
This is simple but not easy.
I have found there are two reasons why it’s so hard to calmly set limits with a toxic partner. The first one is fear. It’s scary to stand up to someone who is angry or manipulative, especially when they’ve convinced you you’re the problem.
The other reason this is hard to do is because living with a toxic person is so provocative. It gets you worked up emotionally. And when you start to defend yourself or speak up, you can’t help but sound really worked up. And your partner uses this to not take you seriously.
So you need to learn how to overcome these two obstacles: getting emotionally worked up and feeling afraid.
If you can do that, you’ll see a big change.
Over the next 6 weeks, I’ll be doing some coaching sessions to help people with this. Most of my clients master these skills within 3-5 sessions of consultation. The cost is $600 for 3 sessions and $750 for 5. We can talk in person, over zoom (video), or by phone. If you attend all sessions and do your best to implement what we talk about, and you don’t get the results you’re looking for, I’ll refund your money. No questions asked.
To purchase a package of 3 or 5 sessions (offer ends March 5, 2020), please contact Martine Emmons at oceandamsel@gmail.com or 810-515-9737; she will register you and process your payment (please have a credit card ready). Thank you!
